The Hottest Day Yet!

Today's heat was 38, feeling like 44! To say it was warm is an understatement, but this didn't stop us from getting out and enjoying our day!
We headed to the 10:15 service at the church down the road. By the time we were arriving, they were hauling in extra chairs to fit our group, plus the other missions groups that were also visiting. Pastor Frankie showed our students some enthusiastic Belize preaching and his wife treated everyone to frozen juice bags to keep us cool during the service!
During lunch, we made some schedule changes, since hitting the Mayan Ruins without shade was not doable today. Instead, the group headed down for a dip in the creek, followed by a trip to the grocery store and gas station to stock up on snacks and ice cream. Tonight we're hanging out at the base, enjoying the cooler (well, still 29 degrees...) evening which comes with a lightning storm (hopes for a thunderstorm!!). Lots of night volleyball, ping pong, and chatting is happening.
Tomorrow we will try the Mayan Ruins again, as it's meant to be much cooler rainy. Students have been flexible with changing schedules and are leaning into the "go-with-the-flow" Belize mindset more and more every day!
